I'm off to DC tonight to visit some excellent people, but I compiled some goodies I have enjoyed recently to share in my absence. I shared these first on Twitter, but thought I'd share them here, in case you're not following me there.
This print is spot on with my life, plus it's a Venn diagram, and I love Venn diagrams.
I found this interview with Clive Thompson to be just great. As an avid reader and lover of books, not to mention thinker about new media, I enjoyed his take on the future of reading and why the internet creates more opportunities for discussion about what we read, which in turn makes us think more about what we read and possibly process it and remember it better. I found it via his wife Emily Nussbaum's tweets. I adore her Twitter feed. She writes a lot about tv, which is how I found her, and I love her perspective and conversations.
I like to think of myself as a cautious optimist, and I really enjoyed J. Maureen Henderson's piece on why it's okay to be optimistic. Plus I find myself giving people pep talks all the time, too. I'm your own personal pep squad. As a person who tries to see the world through a positive lens, I've always found optimism to be a more productive outlook to have in life. I also follow her on Twitter (sensing a theme?).
This movie has a bunch of actors I enjoy and looks like it has a positive outlook on life, weirdos, and faith in people, which I appreciate. Found via Alyssa Rosenberg's blog. I also follow her on Twitter and really like her blog. I find myself forwarding different posts of hers to friends all the time.
Via Fuel Friends on Facebook, I found this Townes Van Zandt cover by Andrew Bird. I have always deeply loved this song. It's a good cover, and I love the mournful violin.
